Murphy's Happy Tail

Photobucket

My name is Murphy and I am a 10 month old black male Labrador. Yes, I am only 10 months old, but I am very large and active for my age. I want to run and swim 24 hours a day. Maybe this is why my owner took me to the shelter. I am not sure how long I was there before Ashley picked me up. I liked Ashley a lot. She took me on walks, hikes & runs, but for some reason I never tired. She even had a small dog friend for me to play with. I think I got into a little bit of trouble during the day. I have to admit, I was a little destructive. I wanted someone around to instruct me what I should or should not do.. Don't forget, I am only a puppy trapped in a big dog's body.

Ashley loved me very much, but realized I needed more structure, so she called the Las Vegas Labrador Rescue. They opened their door for me right away. They took me to meet their vet, and then I got to stay with Denise and Dave and their house full of doggies and cats. I got along with all of their crew. They let me swim and run and play, and they let me know when I crossed a line.

This was good for me. In a matter of time, I found a family to love. I was home I thought.

This family was great, but I have to admit I took advantage of them a bit...maybe more than a bit. I am a puppy remember, and I like to test my boundaries. How far can I go? And with this family I think I took it to the limit. They wanted me to go back to Denise and Dave's house for some more training and instruction. I did not mind, I loved it there.

Guess what? I must be pretty special because I even got to meet a trainer from Sit Means Sit! I got to learn a little more about how I should be acting. The trainer said I was a good dog, but I would be better if I had more structure in my forever home and a purpose to my life.

It was not long after my training that my foster family interviewed another family interested in me. This family was perfect! I got to go and visit, and they got to play with me. They also have a friend for me to play with. This dog has as much energy as I do! WOW they even have a pool. I think I will be very happy here. I even have a purpose, the family has a son that is so happy to have a companion dog! This is the life. I am a companion and a protector to this family.

I am still a puppy remember, but I have a place to fit in and a family to grow with.

I am home,

Murphy

Choco's Happy Tail

Hi, My name is Choco, and I am a 5-6 Year old chocolate Labrador. My family was moving out of town and thought maybe I could not handle the stress of being re-located. They thought it would be better if I stayed local so they contacted the Las Vegas Labrador Rescue.

Boy am I glad they did. I was treated like I king. I got to go meet a new vet and I even got to have a sleepover with my foster family. I think I was a very good boy at the sleepover, because my foster mom Tracey decided I was a good fit for their family. This is great! I get to stay here.

Brewster's Happy Tail

Photobucket
My name is Brewster and I am 7 years young. I have spent part of my life running loose on the streets of St George, Utah because for some reason or another, I had been separated from my previous owner and the only home I knew. Eventually I was picked up and taken to a shelter where I remained for what I think was about 2 months. I have great manners; I am good with kids, other dogs and some cats, so I am not sure why I remained there so long without finding a home. I am also crate trained and housebroken. Nonetheless, the shelter had sentenced me to be euthanized.

It was then that I received a visit from my Rescue Angel Kimberly. She was amazing, not only did she contact LVLR to organize my rescue; she also removed me from the shelter right in time, and raised funds to go towards my vet bills including neutering. I will always be thankful to her.

Once I was accepted into the rescue, I discovered true kindness in my foster family. My foster mom Melissa thought it was funny that I liked to stare at myself in the wardrobe mirror, and that I sat like a panda or lay with my legs spread out real “crazy” like. I loved going outside in the morning to investigate the backyard. I am not big on kissing, but I would give her my paw to show affection.

Good news, I have been adopted; I will be moving in with my new family Ruth and Chris soon! I hear that they have had experience with Labradors, and I will be sharing the house with a few cats, including Smudge. Not too sure how I feel about Smudge, but I will work on establishing a relationship.

Well, I am settling in well with my forever parents, but Smudge and I have a few things still to work out, so our family has hired a trainer. Looking forward to seeing what that is all about. I think they are happy with me though, they continually pet me and give me attention throughout the day, and they have also made plans to take me back to the vet to see how I am doing.

My vet appointment went well. I have gained some weight, up to 80# now, and my family is settling in well to my daily routine.
Smudge and I have called a truce, and the trainer and I have met to go over a few things. I was able to show my family that I have in fact been trained; I just need to be reminded of a few commands.

I feel that in a couple of months my past will truly be the past. I am afraid of thunderstorms so I have chosen to sleep in the closet until things calm down. It gives me a sense of security.  Ruth and Chris are good at giving me my space, but also being there when I need reassurance and comforting.   I love to play, but I am also just as content laying down in the same room as my family.

My parents have said that “Life with a dog is beautiful..  and the cats, too!”

I am home,
