Shadow's Happy Tail

Hi, My name is Shadow, and I came into the rescue after my owner surrendered me to the Animal Foundation/Lied Animal Shelter. I was kept in the medical area of the shelter because of probable ear infections.
Luckily the shelter contacted LVLR and I was pulled from the shelter rather quickly, sent to the rescue vet to have my ears cleaned, then off to a loving foster home. I was not in foster care long before I got to take a car ride to visit with a nice family who had been anxiously awaiting a dog like me.
I feel so lucky! I have a family of my very own.

Saydi's Happy Tail

Hi, my name is Saydi, and I was an owner surrender to LVLR. Don't let my petite figure fool you, I am very athletic and maybe my prior family could not keep up with my energy!

I really had fun in foster care with LVLR. I got to swim daily and frolic with my foster siblings!

It took a little while to find just the right house for me, because I was searching for an active family that can keep up with me (O:

But now I have a great family of my own to train! Watch me go!

Chelsea's Happy Tail

chelsea

Hi, my name is Chelsea, and I am one of the success stories that rescues like to talk about quite often. It is unclear how I ended up a stray in NV, but a nice family opened their home to me while they searched for my owners. They spent 5 months trying to locate my owner, until which time they decided to seek the assistance of LVLR. I am a great dog, and the family would have kept me, but the house was full of 2 and 4 legged kids already, and one more 2 legged one on the way. There was just not enough time in the day to take care of us all.

What I liked about my temporary home though, is that they did not give up on me, they kept me safe until a forever home could be found. I never had to spend a single night in a shelter. I could stay in this home until my transition into my new forever home.

Finding a new home did not take long, the rescue had several approved families, and I went on a home visit right after my visit to the rescue vet. This family fell in love with me, and now I have a forever home where I will be loved and not forgotten.

One thing that all dog owners should learn about my story, is please microchip and register your dog so that if you ever become lost, it is easier for rescues and vets to find where you belong!

I am home,

Chelsea

Rogue's Happy Tail

Rogue2
Hi, my name is Rogue, and in the picture above, I am in a shelter in UT, and the decision was made that I should be put to sleep!! I am not sure why this is so, I still have a lot of love to give a family. LVLR was able to pick me up right in time. Thank you LVLR !

Once I was picked up by the rescue, I got to visit a vet that took care of all my needs and got me ready to enter foster care.

I was not in foster care long before I got to go on a few home visits in order to choose my forever family.

I have chosen my perfect family and a new name too! I am now called Winter. Please follow my happy tail to see how I am doing here in my forever home!

Penny's Happy Tail

penny3

Hi, my name is Penny, and I was found wandering around the streets of Vegas in the middle of summer. Boy it was hot, especially the asphalt on my soft paws. I was lucky that an animal lover found me let me stay at their home and in their pool before contacting the Las Vegas Labrador Rescue. Once the rescue picked me up, I got to go visit their vet, and have a check up before I went into foster care. It seems there are many families looking for a more seasoned lab as myself. I was worried I would have to compete with the young pups, but that isn't so!

I found a home really quick! I am so happy to be off the streets and in a home where I am loved. Stay tuned for more information from my new home soon.

I am home,

Penny

Here I am with my forever person. Don't I look happy?

Molly's Happy Tail

molly2

Molly is a special rescue case. She was originally adopted out to a family in January 2012, and recently returned due to severe separation anxiety.
She had all the classic signs of separation anxiety. She would panic when left alone, which included pacing, panting and rubbing her nose raw on the wires of her crate.

Molly was returned to LVLR because the family that adopted her was unable to provide the specific care she needed. She came back to the rescue on medication (Xanax) to calm her, but it really was not a solution for her anxiety, only a band-aid. She needed extensive help.

Molly came into foster care and was placed with the "Buck-White" clan and immediately fell into a safe haven where she could begin her rehabilitation. First off, began the careful weaning off of her anti-anxiety medication, and the start of  an exercise and training program to aid in easing her anxiety. She also had 3 foster siblings to help keep her active.  Barklay, Tucker and Oliver.

It was not long before Molly's anxiety lessened and she became a mascot for the rescue. She attended board meetings, BBQ's and rescue social events. All the exposure helped Molly to adapt and helped to lessen her anxiety. She also got to attend a few "Sit Means Sit" training sessions with our LVLR President Dave.

Her final social event as a rescue dog, was a BBQ hosted by the O'Dell Family; Bob and Suzanne. They are huge supporters of LVLR, and seasoned rescuers themselves. They have adopted 2 Labradors from LVLR; Sunday and Zak, both yellow labs.

Suzanne and Bob fell in love with Molly immediately, and started the adoption process so that she could become a permanent member of their family.

So, Molly is now home! We look forward to hearing many updates about Molly and her siblings! Here they are pictured from Left to right (Zak, Molly & Sunday).

Hope's Happy Tail

Hi, I am Hope, and I am doing great in my forever home. I am super happy here. I have become quickly acclimated to my routine and it feels like I have been here my whole. Life.
I enjoy going for long walks around the neighborhood in the evening and I have become very popular with the neighbors. I love to be around people and I greet them by wagging my tail. This way they will pet me!

In the evening, I also enjoy relaxing with my family and having my head pet or relaxing on the patio after a good meal.  My new family says I am an amazing and gentle dog and they are very fortunate to have found me as their new friend.

I am home,

Ginger's Happy Tail

Hi, my name is Ginger, and I was an owner surrender in NV. I think my foster family loved me even before I arrived. I heard them say that they have a soft spot in their hearts for chocolate Labradors, so I was a shoe-in!!
I did not even have to show them my tricks!

Freckles' Happy Tail

Hi, my name is Freckles, and I was rescued from a shelter in UT. I was very happy to be an LVLR rescue dog and I loved being in foster care so much that I took my time finding my forever home. I loved spending time with my foster bro Murphy and his buddy, the house cat!

But there came a time when I wanted a family of my own, so here I am with my new family. I have even more siblings now!

JUNE 2012
UPDATE FROM BENNY (formerly Freckles)
We wanted to send an update on Benny (formerly Freckles),
Benny has fit in perfectly with our other 3 dogs. He loves playing with Doodles, has been respectful to our 14 year old Mr. Blacke, and even bringing timid Tootsie out of her shell a little bit. He is showing us how smart he is and learning more everyday. He is energetic and happy and can't wait to play ball. Benny also loves diving into our pool, sometimes going head first under the water, and is a great swimmer (as you can see in the attached photos). It only took him a few times to learn to use the steps to get out.
We want to express our gratitude and praise to everyone at Las Vegas Labrador Rescue, especially Ann and her husband for such a great job fostering and David and Denise Heck for all they do including coming to Benny's home visit.
Benny is a part of our family and we cannot imagine not having him. We will stay in touch and keep you updated on Benny.

Lanee's Happy Tail

Untitled

Hi,
I am Lanee, and I was an owner surrender from UT. I traveled to LV with my daughter Sandy.
When we arrived, we received a thorough physical exam and then we went into foster care. Sandy and I enjoyed attending the Woofstock adoption event, and we met a lot of nice people. Sandy found a home, but it took a little longer for me to find my forever home. But as they say, the best things in life are worth the wait.

My happy tail is still being written, but I am happy to be home,

Lanee

Lucas' Happy Tail

Untitled

Hi, I am Lucas, and I am a 3 month old black Labrador. I am not sure why my previous owner abandoned me. Maybe they were not aware how much attention and training I needed. I was lucky to have found the Las Vegas Labrador Rescue because they knew exactly how much work I can be, and they found a really safe foster home for me to go to until I could interview my forever family.

As you can see, I picked a real special family, and I am going to have a lot of fun being a best friend to 2 boys!

Sandy's Happy Tail

Photobucket

Hi, my name is Sandy, and I was an owner surrender with my sibling and my mother. My sibling was adopted before I left UT to come to LVLR. My mother Lanee/Lena made the trip with me. We arrived in LV, went for a quick check-up, and then went into foster care. I was lucky to have attended an adoption event pretty shortly after arriving into the rescue. There were many people interested in me, so I had to be on my best behavior. I think in the end, the family I chose to live with was the best equipped to handle a young adventurous Labrador such as myself.

I am so happy to be home. Stay tuned for pictures from my home!

T-Bone's Happy Tail

TBoneHead-2 smaller

Well, it will be a week tomorrow that T-Bone will have been a part of our family.  He has fit in very well with us, and we are fitting in well with him.  He is even starting to take to our cat.  Actually, he isn’t all that interested in the cat- she is starting to warm up to him thought.  Last night they both slept on our bed!

T-Bone is a lover through and through! There is just no other way to describe him.  He loves affection and loves to show affection right back!  He enjoys nothing more than to snuggle up with us and have his head scratched and his tummy rubbed.  He isn’t shy about asking to be petted.  He will poke and prod at you until he gets that extra rub on his ear or scratch on his tummy.

He takes to his crate OK, but certainly is disappointed when we leave for work in the morning.  He is always so happy when we get home and shows that youthful exuberance you would expect from a 1 year old lab when his family comes home.

Untitled

For a 1 year old lab, he is  very mellow.  He will begrudgingly play a couple games of fetch (maybe 2 of 3 throws is his limit).  He also doesn’t seem to like or have any interest in water which I find very surprising for a lab. He is scarred of the hose when the water is running, and will sit by  our pool but has no interest in getting in and swimming.  He is very “aggressive appropriate” when he plays.  He loves to rough house with me, but is much more gentle with Manda, Gabriel (our 11 year old son) and Harper (our two year old daughter).  When he is around Harper he just follows her until she sits, and then will give her a lick or two on her legs, arms, or head.  Given how mellow T-Bone is, it must have been Ruffie who was the mischief maker!  Would be interested to know if Ruffie has the same views on playing fetch and swimming as T-Bone.

All in all, it has been a great first week.  I think we all made a great choice and we are all very happy that T-Bone is a part of our family.  And, I think T-Bone is happy to be with us.

T-Bone Update June 2012

tbone3
**UPDATE FROM TBONE'S FOREVER HOME**T-Bone asked me to send out an update. He has some trouble typing, but we are working on it.

Hi everyone! It’s me, T-Bone. Just wanted to take a second and let all of you know how things are going.

Life the past month has been great! I love my forever family and they sure love me! Dad comes home with treats all the time for me and is always telling me what a great dog I am. We play fetch every day. I still don’t love it, but it’s growing on me a bit. I have been to the dog park on Horizon Ridge 3 times now. I am learning how to play with other dogs, and I think I am doing pretty well at that. I love it when other Labs show up, and I play with them better than I do with other dogs. Dad says I get a bit too protective when other dogs come over and want him to pet them, so I need to work on that. Dad also calls me a “Velcro Lab.” I think that means I am always stuck to his side when he is home. Mom and Dad have been talking about taking a class with me to refine my manners (which are already pretty good) so that should be fun.

Mom is home all summer, so I have someone to play with all day! At night, Mom and Dad let me sleep on their bed! I snuggle up at Mom’s feet and sleep the night away. When Mom and Harper (the littlest member of my new family) are swimming, I stay outside with them and even sit next to the pool edge. I haven’t jumped in yet (I know, kind of odd for Lab), but maybe later this summer I’ll feel up to taking a swim. I know Mom and Dad would love to swim with me!

Well, that is all for now. Thank you LVLR for rescuing me and all the other Labs! Keep up the good work! And who knows, maybe sometime in the near future I’ll even have a Lab brother or sister!!

T-Bone

P.S. Hi Ruffie/Jackson!!!
